Is online gambling legal in Czechia?
Online casino, sports betting, lotteries and poker are legal in Czechia, but only with operators licensed by the Ministry of Finance, which publishes the list of legal operators. You must be 18. Sites without a Czech licence are put on a public list that internet providers must block and banks must stop paying; you are not fined for playing there, but your deposits and winnings are not protected.

Gambling in Czechia: what you need to know
Winnings over CZK 50,000 are taxed at 15% (per win for lotteries, per year and game kind for other games). Every licensed site checks the national exclusion register (RVO), and the 48-hour panic button on any licensed site bars you everywhere for 48 hours.
What's legal online in Czechia: casino, sports betting and poker
Sports betting
Fixed-odds betting, including live betting, is licensed by the Ministry of Finance. As of 1 October 2026 the register lists 11 online betting entries. You can bet on sports events or events of public attention, and the operator's own software may not produce the result.1
Online casino and slots
Slots and electronic roulette are licensed as technical games. The register lists 28 online entries as of 1 October 2026. On an internet technical game a stake can be at most CZK 500 and a win at most CZK 500,000 per game, and each game must last at least 2 seconds.1
Live casino
Live tables are allowed only when they are streamed from a studio inside a casino that holds a Czech premises permit. Another licensed operator may run its game in that studio, under its own basic permit.1
Online poker
Poker is licensed as a live game, played in its internet form where players play each other. A player may not take part more than once at the same live game table.1
Lottery and bingo
Numeric and instant lotteries and bingo can be played online with licensed operators. As of 1 October 2026 the register lists 8 numeric lottery entries, 9 instant lottery entries and 1 bingo entry. Tombolas and small-scale tournaments cannot be run online.1
Unlicensed sites
The Ministry of Finance keeps a public list of unlicensed internet games, and internet providers and payment providers must block what is on it. The law defines no offence for a player who uses an unlicensed operator, but the Ministry warns you can lose your deposit, have no legal protection and go unpaid.1
Gambling with crypto: Not accepted on licensed sites: deposits and payouts go only through a payment account or instrument held with an EU or EEA payment provider (or cash up to CZK 10,000 in 24 hours), non-cash stakes are prohibited and a virtual asset may not be a win (Gambling Act ss. 17e, 7(4), 10(6)(e)). The law does not name crypto-assets.
Minimum age: 18
You must be 18 to gamble online in Czechia, for online casino, sports betting and lottery alike.
Tax on winnings: 15%
Lottery and tombola wins over CZK 50,000 are taxed at 15%, taken by the operator when the win is paid. For betting, slots, live games and other games, what counts is your net result for the year in each kind of game (wins less stakes of that kind): up to CZK 50,000 is tax-free, and the rest goes in your annual tax return, taxed at 15% (23% on the part of your income above 36 times the average wage). A loss in one kind of game does not reduce a win in another. Withdrawing money from your account is not taxed. The tax-free limit was CZK 1,000,000 until 31 December 2023.

Prominent operators in Czechia
If a site isn't on the regulator's licensee register, ask the regulator before you play: an unlisted site is usually not licensed here (a register can lag behind a new licence). An unlicensed site is outside the regulator's supervision, so you cannot complain to the regulator about it.
Red flags: how to spot an unlicensed site
- Check the Ministry's list of legal operators
The Ministry of Finance publishes the list of licensed operators with their websites (the Whitelist). A site that is not on it is not licensed in Czechia, and the Ministry warns of fake sites that copy licensed brands.
- A Czech-language site
A licensed internet game must be offered at least in Czech.
- Identity checked before you play
A licensed operator verifies your identity and age before it opens your account and checks the exclusion register (RVO) at every login. A site that lets you play anonymously is not licensed.
- Not on the blocking list
The Ministry publishes the list of unlicensed websites, apps and payment accounts that must be blocked.

Ask the Ministry of Finance to enter you in the national exclusion register (RVO); you cannot ask to be removed for the first year. Or use the panic button on any licensed site, which bars you from every licensed operator for 48 hours.
